signalinterference: (Slouching)
So for the next week, Mono will be wandering around the mirrorverse and Thin Man will be roaming around Aterat. Best-case scenario he looms about and your character eludes him if he starts pursuing them. Worst-case scenario, you have to fight him! You can try talking to him too, of course, but don’t expect to make friends. Mono will probably default a bit to his old mindset/survival instincts in the mirror world, and he'll be more wary of people since he realizes they may not be who he knows.

I will say that anyone who is either really good at connecting the dots or good at sensing power on other people will probably be able to tell that this is another version of Mono. The Signal that leaks out around him like static is also present with the Thin Man version, so it wouldn’t be hard to figure that out. (Likewise, if there’s a version of your character on the other side of the mirror that does, you're welcome to have them figure it out too! That would be funny, given he’s just a lil guy as opposed to the tall, intimidating fellow they’re used to...)

This is a good way for characters to get a better idea of what the heck the kids been so worried about since he got back, honestly. Plus it could give an interesting glimpse of what some of Mono's abilities could be like if he practices and learns to better control them.

If you have any ideas for an interaction you want, or questions about this, please comment below or message me on Discord (WhimsicalSpook)! I am happy to discuss/plan out things in more detail for you and your characters specifically. I will be happy to write extra/more personalized starter for your characters with either Thin Man or Mono if none of the pre-written ones work for you.

More About The Thin Man

This is the version of Mono that never left the tower, the version that’s been under the influence of the Eye Entity filling the tower (think giant eldritch looking thing with LOTS of eyes). During the time spent confined alone in that room, being slowly converted and manipulated by the Eye entity, he’s come around to its way of thinking ‘like all sensible children do.

(That particular line is something that was said to confirm why Mono doesn't break himself out of the tower after he starts to grow/gain more power when fans asked, so the boy has been heavily influenced by the entity over the time spent in that room)

Rather than fighting anymore, Thin Man Mono allows the tower to amplify his signal and draw in citizens by broadcasting it through the televisions through the city so they can be absorbed and join the Eye Entity. So instead of growing and learning like he has around Aterat, he’s grown into the Thin Man completely.

The Thin Man tends towards being a menacing, looming figure. What little of Mono remaining seems to reflect the anger and bitterness over his situation and the way things play out at the end of every loop. What little hope and innocence might remain is likely the part that what breaks away when the loop restarts, when Mono pops out of the television in the hunter’s forest to restart the journey back to the city where he will inevitably face the Thin Man version of himself and then become him to start things over... again... and again... and again.

Because it’s a loop, and his friend always lets go when he needs her to help him up...

Thin Man is much more in control of his abilities and much more advanced than Mono is. The list of what he can do is as follows:

TV Teleportation:
Like Mono, he can travel through TVs, but thankfully for everyone there aren't any tvs in Aterat so it's not a problem.

Signal Tuning:
Like Mono, the Thin Man has the ability to skip himself forward as he moves, it looks like teleportation but it’s more like he’s skipping forward like a fast-forwarded video as his image stutters and suddenly appears much closer than it was moments before.

The Thin Man also has the ability to slow down time in the area surrounding him while remaining unaffected himself by it. This means people and items will be slowed down entirely, and find it almost like trying to move through molasses. Mono has not tried to learn to do that yet, probably due to not wanting to be like that version of himself.

This also is likely what effects the world around them and, when amplified by the tower, starts to ruin/decay stuff, whereas Mono shows himself capable of doing the reverse when he straightens the crooked buildings on his final skip towards the tower.

The Thin Man is able to move people and items, as well as opening doors and windows without actually touching them. Often seen pulling people and objects towards him like a magnet drawn towards him suddenly. This seems to need to be performed at a closer range and takes a second or two to take effect. Due to this, it is often used in tandem with the above by slowing the area around him and his prey down to get closer to snatch them up.

Flexibility:
The Thin Man is abnormally tall, so much so that he’s often taller than even the oversized doorways in Mono’s world. Rather than being hindered by his size, he is seen to be able to fold in half and bend in unnatural/exaggerated ways. Thus, hoping he won’t fit through doorways is a mistake if you think going indoors will keep him from pursuing you.

The Signal
that Mono gives off is also still present, I am again nullifying most of the effects (the obsession) and limiting it to cause static interference/glitching with electronics (but to a more noticeable degree).

The interference might be extended instead to the tell-phones of those in the direct area nearby, providing a nice warning that he’s around (an excuse for if people want a reason to be warned away/not deal with this). This doesn’t damage phones, just makes it act up a bit with static like Mono's does.
